It's our goal at CEWE to ensure that all the paper we use is FSC® certified by 2023, and we're almost there! More than 90% of our digital printing papers and almost 100% of photographic papers are currently FSC® certified. Wherever possible, we use recycled paper - such as for book covers. In addition, every CEWE PHOTOBOOK is produced and shipped in a climate-neutral manner.
Sustainability is our priority when it comes to raw materials. At CEWE, we use FSC® certified wood and paper. Our new 100% recycled paper has also been certified with a Blue Angel - a German environmental label awarded to particularly environmentally friendly products.
The CEWE PHOTOBOOK is designed to stay in great condition for years to come, so that it can be passed down from generation to generation. A long shelf life means the environment is spared and protected.
We keep production to a minimum. A CEWE photo product is only produced if an order was placed. In this way, we avoid creating waste, producing unnecessary emissions and we reduce the need for storage space.
All CEWE branded products are manufactured and shipped in a climate-neutral manner. We offset unavoidable COâ‚‚ emissions from production by supporting the Kasigau Wildlife Corridor. For climate-neutral shipping, CEWE works with DHL GOGREEN.
We use 100% green electricity at all CEWE locations and we're certified to comply with ISO 50001 Energy Management standards. All of our larger production sites are certified with ISO 14001 Environmental Management standards, too.
The entire CEWE range is produced in Europe. The vast majority of orders from the UK and the Republic of Ireland are produced in our Warwick lab. Local production is not only kinder to the planet - it also avoids long transport routes, so you can look forward to shorter delivery times.
All products that have wood fibre content, such as paper, cardboard or wood, can be FSC® certified if they meet the right standards.
We recognise and accept this criticism. Nevertheless, the FSC® is the most demanding seal for paper and wood products and is still supported by major environmental protection organizations. Therefore, the FSC® certification of our products is the best we can do for sustainable forest management.
Plastic film is used to protect the product from damage. In this way, complaints are kept to a minimum. This leads to a reduction in the paper that would be consumed by reprinting a damaged order. We are looking for alternatives to replace the plastic packaging with a more environmentally friendly material.
There are various reasons for this. Occasionally, we have to use small quantities of materials that are not yet certified for some of our products. 100% of the materials used must be certified in order to display the FSC® seal. In other cases, we simply have to adapt our processes so that they comply with all new guidelines during the annual FSC® audit. We are working hard to achieve this.
As a group, we've been working on improving our environmental impact for 20 years. We care about the preservation of the planet for future generations. From 2016 to 2022, CEWE has offset 100,000 tonnes of CO2 through support of the Kasigau Wildlife Corridor Project in Kenya.
We keep our emissions down to a minimum. This includes the use of renewable energies, green IT and climate-neutral shipping. Our entire added-value chain is climate-neutral: from the choice of raw materials, to purchasing, production and delivery.

A CEWE PHOTOBOOK is built to last so that it can bring joy to multiple generations. It stands for long-lasting quality. We produce every CEWE PHOTOBOOK in a climate-neutral manner. Since 2016, we've supported the Kasigau Wildlife Corridor to offset all unavoidable emissions with a forest protection and reforestation project in Kenya. In addition, all CEWE PHOTOBOOK formats are FSC® certified.
