Add video to your Greetings Card and bring the festivities to life
The holiday season is a time for spreading joy, laughter and warm wishes and what better way to do that than to send a fun, festive personalised Christmas card to family and friends?
Traditional Christmas cards hold their own charm and warmth, but this year you can also create a unique and memorable experience for your family and friends by creating a Christmas card with personalised photos and video.
CEWE offers you a step-by-step guide on how to create festive family Christmas cards that combine the timeless appeal of photographs with the modern touch of videos and Highlights.
Selecting your card format
To begin the creative journey of designing a personalised Christmas Card, you will first need to download our free CEWE Creator Software 7.3. Once downloaded and opened, you will see the home page. Hover over 'Greetings Cards' at the top of your screen, and scroll down to select the format you wish to use.
Greeting card formats that allow for adding Highlights and video messages to your card include: Square, Small, Panoramic and Stationary Greeting Cards.
It is also important to note that should you wish to add luxurious Highlights to your Christmas Card, you would need to select Standard Paper as the paper type. Our Standard Paper is a high-quality digital paper with a superb matte finish.
Once you have selected Standard Paper, you will have a choice of Gold, Rose Gold, Silver and Gloss Highlights to add to your Christmas Card. Once you have chosen which type to apply to your card, a product selection pop-up window will appear, giving you a choice between a single-sided Greeting Card or a double-sided Greeting Card. We recommend your choose double-sided, as this will allow for more space to add a video message, more text and additional images.
Follow our step-by-step guide below to create your Christmas Card:
Step 1: Select the template that will bring out your family’s festive spirit
Once you have selected your preferred format, you will be directed to a menu where you will have a variety of Christmas card designs to choose from. On the left-hand side, select 'Christmas' and you will be presented with Christmas Card designs to choose from. On the right-hand side, you will find filters you can use to browse though the different designs by colour or theme. Should you wish to view templates with specific Highlights, you can choose one of the colour options for Highlights within the filters too. Once you've chosen a design, left click on it to select it. At the bottom of your screen, click 'Install Selection' and then click 'Edit with template'.
Step 2: Add photos to your card
In the design menu on the left-hand side, click on 'Photos & Videos'. Here, you can browse through your computer - or any files you've uploaded to CEWE myPhotos - and select the folder of photos you wish to use. Your chosen photos will appear in the design menu. You can then drag and drop the desired photos onto the template.
Step 3: Add a video Christmas message to your card
Adding a video message to your card is just as easy as adding a photo. Drag and drop the desired video onto the card. A QR code will appear along with a representative image of your video.
Step 4: Resize and reposition the video image and QR Code
With some formats you can resize and reposition the generated video frame and the QR code as much as you would like using the same controls as you would use to manipulate an image. The frame can be adjusted and moved into position and the QR code can also be moved and resized.
Important to note: The QR code allows the video to played once the product is printed, therefore the QR code must not be deleted.
Step 5: How to shorten your video
Simply double-click your video to view the editing options. You can shorten the length of your video By switching on the 'shorten video' function in the menu on the right-hand side. To shorten your video, click on the time bar at the bottom of your screen and drag the blue trim marks across.
How do you change the representative image?
Navigate to the 'Representative images' tab located towards the bottom of the window. Here, you will be able to view all the still frames from your video and select the representative image that will appear on your printed card. Browse through all the stills from your video, and once you have found the image you wish to use, select it and click 'Save'.
Step 6: Add additional text to your card
Should you wish, you can add more text to your card by selecting 'New Text Box' in the toolbar. Place the text box in the space of your choice. In the toolbox on the right you'll find a selection of editing tools to edit the font, colour and orientation of your text.
Step 7: Bring your Christmas card to life through print
Place your order by adding your Christmas card to the shopping basket. Once you are happy, proceed to payment to finalise your order.
